At the 2004 annual meeting, KDIC members elected five directors to serve three-year terms on the Board.
Beth Lojewski (The 'Ville) was re-elected to serve at-large from the retail sector.
Tina Miller (Hair Academy 110) was elected from the service sector.
Roberta Santee (US Bank) was re-elected from the financial services area.
Tina Taggart (Daniels & Taggart) was re-elected from the professional classification.
Brad Steenhoek (Il Spazio) was elected from the property owner division.
The Board will elect officers for the 2005 calendar year at its meeting in January.
The KDIC Board of Directors comprises 15 members, with two members elected from each of the seven classifications, plus one at-large member who may be elected from any of the classifications.
Member classifications are Restaurants and Entertainment, Nonprofit and Governmental, Service, Financial Services, Retail, Professional, and Property Owners.
In addition, a representative from the City of Kirksville, Adair County, and the Chamber of Commerce hold non-voting ex-oficio seats on the Board.
The new Board members were elected unanimously by acclamation at the meeting. They begin serving in January.
DIRECTORS ENDORSE USE OF
MODIFIED KIRKSVILLE LOGO
Director Larry Whitney asked the KDIC Board to endorse a modified Kirksville logo on Old Town marketing and promotional materials. Whitney proposed adding "Shop Old Town" before "Kirksville: Where People Make the Difference."
The logo was selected from hundreds of submissions by the Kirksville Image Committee. The intent of the logo is to build community pride. Whitney said he thinks we should remind people how important it is to our community for them to "shop Kirksville." The modified logo reinforces that idea.
The Board encourages Old Town businesses to use the logo.
BOARD ENCOURAGES BUSINESSES TO USE THIS RETAIL SCHEDULE TO PLAN FOR A MORE SUCCESSFUL 2005
After approving a set retail schedule for 2005, the Board asks Old Town businesses to use the schedule to plan for the year.
Board members have three primary reasons for establishing the schedule. First, they wanted to set events at the same times each year so customers begin "counting" on them to occur and other local organizations don't schedule over them.
Second, they wanted to assist retailers and other businesses with long-range event planning.
Third, the event schedule focuses the KDIC's marketing and promotional efforts for the year.
Two KDIC members asked the Board to establish an event schedule. After gathering input, the Board voted to proceed with the
following schedule. The dates reflected are for 2005. The Board plans to hold these events at the same time every year.
